Daniel Gibson (he/they) is a Vermont-based actor and multidisciplinary theatre artist dedicated to telling stories that explore identity, intimacy, power, and the complexities of human connection. Drawn to emotionally rich characters and thought-provoking narratives, he is particularly passionate about queer storytelling, contemporary musical theatre, new works, and the timeless storytelling found in the Golden Age canon. Alongside his love of contemporary work, his vocal training has cultivated a deep appreciation for the musical and dramatic traditions that continue to shape the art form today.
Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, Daniel discovered a love for performance through local theatre, school productions, and his youth show choir. As he grew as both an artist and a person, he found himself increasingly drawn to stories that wrestle with questions of belonging, identity, and community. Theatre became not only a creative outlet, but also a way of making sense of himself and the world around him.
As a queer artist, Daniel is especially interested in work that explores the many dimensions of queer life with honesty, complexity, and humanity. He is inspired by stories that illuminate the joys, struggles, contradictions, and resilience of LGBTQ+ communities, and believes theatre is at its most powerful when it invites audiences into meaningful conversation while fostering empathy across differences. Through performance, he continues to explore his own relationship to identity while honoring the diverse experiences of others.
In 2026, Daniel made his international debut in Shanghai, China, portraying Nathan Leopold in Thrill Me: The Leopold & Loeb Story. Living and working abroad deepened his appreciation for theatre's ability to transcend language, culture, and geography, reaffirming his belief that storytelling can create connection in even the most unexpected places.
Daniel is currently pursuing dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Theatre and Political Science at the University of Vermont. His studies have strengthened his fascination with the intersections of storytelling, history, culture, and social change, and continue to shape the kinds of work he hopes to create throughout his career.
When he isn't performing, Daniel can usually be found hiking Vermont trails, tending a garden, listening to records, or spending time with his cat, Finn. Whether onstage, on a mountain trail, or with his hands in the soil, he is guided by curiosity, compassion, and a desire to better understand the people and stories that shape our world.
Daniel Outside of Theatre
While theatre is at the heart of Daniel's life, his curiosity extends far beyond the stage. He has a deep interest in political science, public policy, and local civic engagement, and is fascinated by the ways storytelling can shape communities and inspire meaningful dialogue. He believes artists have an important role to play both onstage and off, and strives to approach every project with empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to understanding perspectives beyond his own.
Outside of theatre, Daniel enjoys hiking Vermont trails, gardening, discovering local coffee shops, traveling, and spending time with his cat, Finn.
